Over the years, 50 Cent has reinvented himself somewhat. He has ventured into business, television production, investing and acting. In all of these areas he has shown himself to be competent and capable. We take a quick look at the 50 year history.

50 Cent Biography, Age

50 Cent was born on July 6, 1975, in the tough South Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York. His full name at birth was Curtis James Jackson III. He was raised by a single mother, Sabrina Jackson, in southern Jamaica. At an early age, Jackson was introduced to crime, his mother being a drug dealer. She died in a fire when he was only eight years old and he went to live with his grandmother.

Young Jackson started selling drugs on his own when he was 12 and bought his first gun at 15. He wanted to be a boxer so started fighting at the junior level. He had a few skirmishes with the law in his late teens and was arrested for possession, heroin and crack cocaine were found in his home at the time of the attack. By this point, he was the neighborhood drug kingpin, earning $150,000 a month. He was sentenced from three to nine years, but ended up going to boot camp and getting his GED.

50 Cent was introduced to Jam Master Jay from Run-DMC. Jay liked what he saw of the young rapper and helped him produce an album that was never released. When he signed with the Columbia label, he recorded the album, Dollar Power but it was never released with the songs deemed to show the rapper’s confrontational style. He was hit nine times, and in 2000 suffered a serious shooting accident but recovered from his injuries.

He formed a band, G-Unit, with his friends Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo. Their music caught the attention of Eminem and Dr. Dre, who helped produce his debut album. This album was Get Rich or Die Trying, released in 2003. The songs were fueled by tales of his time in a life of crime, guns and drugs, mostly true stories. His style seemed to resonate with his listeners, and the album was a resounding success: it sold 9 million copies.

In 2005 he released another successful album with a musical style not so different from the first album. The album Asking for Grace was good too, with 5 million copies sold. The albums that would follow, like 2007’s Curtis and 2009’s Before I Self-Destroy Myself, wouldn’t pull as much weight as his early days. But by then, 50 Cent was already an established figure in the entertainment industry.

This boy’s name is Marquise Jackson. The relationship with Shaniqua deteriorated over the years, however, and she sued him for $50 million, claiming he had promised to take care of her for life. The lawsuit was dismissed in court. The birth of Marquise helped Jackson settle down a bit.

Jackson also dated model Daphne Joy. The couple have a son together, Jackson’s second son, born September 1, 2012. The boy’s name is Sir Jackson. Daphne accused Jackson of kicking her and looting her spot during an argument at her condominium in Los Angeles. He allegedly caused damage worth $7,100.
