Being the host of a popular radio show in a city of over 8 million people makes you a personality. Add to that a controversial lifestyle and you’re definitely a celebrity. Such is the life of Anthony Cumia, a New York radio personality whose career has not been short of controversy. To know more about Anthony Cumia’s life like his net worth, professional history, and controversies, keep reading below.

the biography

Before popular opinions of him were shared in Worship and Hate, Anthony Cumia was just a humble blue-collar worker who tackled small structural problems in New York homes. Although he was a high school dropout and never attended college, he was a man who dreamed of becoming a radio personality. So when Gregg ‘Opie ‘Hughes’ announced an OJ Simpson song parody contest, Anthony saw it as a way to live out part of his dream, to hear his voice on the radio.

Anthony went to work with his brother Joe and submitted what became one of the contest’s winning songs. He, along with his brother, was invited to the show. Gregg, who fell in love with the brothers’ work, wanted more from the source and in no time Anthony was producing comedy sketches for Gregg. The two parties, realizing how well they work together and their chemistry, decided in 1995 to start a show together.

Anthony Cumia and Opie Hughes have become quite an effective but problematic pair. Despite their obvious ability to host a show that commands many listeners, their on-air behavior has been a source of endless trouble for the duo. Their first show, which launched in March 1995, was canceled following a horrific prank that tricked their listeners into believing the mayor of Boston had been killed in a car accident.

Despite their problematic nature, they were attracting good grades and continuing to get new chances. With each new chance, their show grew, airing 17 stations nationwide in 2002 after being hooked up by another station, WNEW radio in New York. At this point, the pair had Jim Norton on the show, in an effort to control their excesses. However, this was not very effective as Anthony Cumia and Opie Hughes had their show canceled and banned from working for two years after another controversial hit.

However, soon after, the pair were back on the radio again, this time on satellite radio. The pair went on an uninterrupted 8-year show from April 2006 until July 2014 when Anthony Cumia’s controversial nature came through in a series of racist tweets. He was later fired from the show. He managed to find a way to live his dream of being a radio personality. He, along with Artie Lange, currently hosts a show called The Artie and Anthony Show

wife and girlfriend

Anthony met a lady named Jennifer, who would end his wife in 1987. Jennifer who was dating Joseph, brother of Anthony Cumia, started dating Anthony in 1989 after he broke up with Joe and the two got married after seven months. In March 2002, the couple divorced.

Anthony later dated Jill Nicolini in 2008 and model Melissa Stetten in 2012. Anthony’s string of controversial and bad behavior didn’t stop on his shows. On December 19, 2015, he had a fight with his girlfriend, Danielle Brand, and it turned violent. He was arrested and released without bail on December 21.

Having previously denied allegations of the arrest, it was revealed in June 2016 that he had pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and felony obstruction of breathing as part of a plea deal. All indications currently suggest that Anthony Cumia is single.
