Caroline Rhea’s Bio

Caroline Rhea was born on April 13, 1964 in Westmount, Quebec, Canada to Margery (antique dealer) and David Rhea (obstetrician and gynecologist). She has two siblings, Cynthia and Celia. For her education, she chose to attend The Study, an all-girls private school located in Westmount, Quebec. Rhea then went on to study at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. She also studied acting and comedy theater at the New School for Social Research in New York.

In 1986, Caroline Rhea moved to New York to pursue a career in comedy and theater. She began performing at comedy venues such as Catch a Rising Star and The Comic Strip, where she performed alongside future superstar comedians such as Chris Rock, Dave Attell, Jim Gaffigan, Louis CK and Marc Maron.

Her first comedy show to be filmed includes MTV’s Half- Hour Comedy , Caroline’s Comedy Hour, and Bande Dessinée Live. Rhea featured in a one-hour Home Box Office (HBO) special called One Night Stand which earned her a huge following. She followed this with her one-hour special called Rhea’s Anatomy airing on the Bravo Network as well as the Showtime comedy special, Give Me My Remote

After achieving huge success as a comedian in New York, Caroline Rhea moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career in Hollywood. Her first appearance as an actress was in the NBC television series titled Pride and Joy where she starred alongside famous actor Jeremy Piven. After her acting debut, she later became a cast in a series that would gain her popularity – Sabrina the Teenage Witch where she played the role of Aunt Hilda and for her recurring role in the later incarnation of Hollywood Squares
