Biography of Chris Isaac

Sir. Joe Isaak and Dorothy Vignolo on June 26, 1956 gave birth to a son they named Christopher Joseph Isaak. He was born in the blue-collar town of Stockton, California. Growing up was difficult for the family as her father, Joe, was a forklift operator and her mother, Dorothy, worked in a potato chip production company. Although the family was broken up, his older brother had a guitar. So he sometimes borrowed it to play. Chris Isaak, the youngest of three boys (the others being Nick and Jeff Issak), thus developed a passion for music. and taught himself to play the guitar.

His family could not afford to buy new things so he opted for fairly used items and when he would accompany his mother to such stores he would buy used rock n roll records. Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Hank Williams are some of Joe’s earliest influences in today’s sound.

He attended Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in North Stockton and served as class captain for three years. In his senior year, he became student president. Along with that, he was the spokesperson for his class when he graduated in 1974. Graduating from high school, he enrolled in middle school at San Joaquin Delta Community College before transferring to Pacific University at Stockton and graduating in 1981 with a BA in English and Communication Arts. During his undergraduate studies, Isaak spent a few semesters in Japan as part of an exchange program. It was then that he decided to pursue a career in music.

Upon graduation, Chris Isaak formed his first band which included James Calvin Wilsey as lead guitarist, Rowland Salley as bassist, Kenney Dale Johnson on drums, while he acted as vocalist and played also rhythm guitar. The group was formed in 1981 and was called Silvertone. Chris Isaak is of mixed ancestry. He is Black Sea German on his father’s side and Italian American on his mother’s side. However, his nationality is American being born in Stockton, California and he belongs to a white ethnicity.

The jaw-dropping music video for the song was orchestrated by director Herb Ritts, it became a hit and helped make Chris Isaak a sex symbol. He filmed the video with model Helena Christensen and captured them on a beach with an erotic bond and sultry chemistry, creating an aura of love and romance. The song Don’t Make Me Dream of You, also on the Heart-Shaped World album, helped make the album multi-platinum in the United States. Chris Isaak’s other albums followed San Francisco Days (1993) and the Grammy-nominated Forever Blue (1995), which featured the Grammy-nominated single “Somebody’s Crying”. Baja Sessions (1996),Talking Devil (1998), Always Had Tonight (2002), Christmas (2004), Mr. Lucky (2009), Beyond the Sun (2011) and The First Comes at Night (2015).
