Dan Cummins – Bio

Dan Cummins was born in the small town of Riggins, Idaho on May 17, 1977. After graduating from high school in 1995, he studied psychology at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He graduated in 1997, after which he found employment as a child and family counselor at a local residential treatment center. Although he only worked there for six months, he called the experience a horrible one.

Dan’s journey into a career in comedy began in 2000, when he performed at the now-defunct Laugh’s Comedy Cafe’s open mic show at the Season Ticket Bar near from the Spokane Arena. The following year, Dam Cummins entered the Seattle Comedy Competition and ended up becoming a finalist. During the competition, Dan Cummins met fellow comedian, David Crowe, who formed a two-person band, COBDOG (Crowe On Bass, Dan On Guitar). Together they were able to get some radio airtime to host some of their movies including; “Bob And Tom Gone Wild” and “At The Coffee Shop”. Unfortunately, the duo broke up in 2003.

Over time, Dan would later come to know The Late Show talent booker as well as Comedy Central senior staff in 2005. It was then that he made an appearance at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal at the New Faces showcase. This led to him participating in a performance that also became his first television performance on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham in 2006. Just a month after Comedy Central, his network television debut was taped on The Late Late Show. with Craig Ferguson. The same year, the HBO Las Vegas Comedy Festival was his second major show.

In 2009, Dan Cummins hit a career milestone when his Comedy Central show was voted by fans at Comedy Central’s annual standup showdown as the third best comedy show. Also in 2009, he debuted his first one-hour special on Comedy Central and performed a sold-out show at the Bing Crosby Theater in Spokane, WA. In September 2014, he took part in Los Angeles-based artist Hughie Stone Fish’s “Siren Songs” tour.

News arrived on January 5, 2015 that Dan Cummins will be a permanent co-host on the Playboy Morning Show. On September 18, 2016, the first episode of Dan’s historical/comedy podcast titled “Timesuck  was released. Episodes on the podcast have since surpassed 100 episodes. Pandora later featured Dan as a comedian, which also made him the first comedian to have such an opportunity on the company’s platform.

This happened after Dan’s podcast station became one of the most listened to podcasts hosted by a comic. It’s also worth noting that Dan Cummin’s growing success in his chosen field led veteran filmmaker, Newman Mike, to begin developing a documentary since 2009 centering on his comedic journey.
