Ebro Darden is an American music producer, radio presenter with Hot 97 and DJ with Beats1. More than these, he is also famous for his various feuds with different celebrities including Charlamagne Tha God, radio personality with Power 105.1, 6ix9ine and more recently with 50 Cent. Beyond his fame in broadcast media and his controversies with celebrities, here are some cool things you’ve never seen about Ebro.
Ebro Darden Biography, Age and Ethnicity
The radio personality was born on March 17, 1975 and is called Ibrahim Jamil Darden in the United States. With a black father and a Jewish mother, he was raised in Oakland and Sacramento.
As a child, Ebro Darden attended Hebrew school before going on to graduate from California State University Sacramento. Growing up with music and loving it dearly, his radio career began in 1990 when he was still a teenager at the age of 15. Unlike the hip-hop music he is deeply involved with on radio today, when Darden started his career, hip-hop was a genre of music that didn’t get airplay.
At the time, he was working in the research unit of KSFM where he was also a sales runner before moving into programming as an intern. Soon, Ebro was co-hosting morning and evening shows for the station.
From there he moved to KBMB also in Sacramento in 1997. There he led the afternoon shows, while also serving as programming and music director at the station. In a short time, Ebro Darden became Director of Operations at KBMB. At the same time, he co-hosted a morning show at KXJM in 1991.
Where the show’s personality would come to make a name for himself, however, was with Hot 97. He became WQHT’s music director in 2003, and by 2007 he had risen to the station’s program director position. In the years that followed, he collaborated with various Hot 97 co-hosts, including Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds.
In addition to Hot 97, Ebro Darden also works on Beats 1. He also works on Apple Music internet radio as one of his anchor DJs.
Over the years, as he became a big voice on radio, Darden was also involved in feuds with various celebrities including Power 105.1’s Charlamagne Tha God, who he had been having issues with for some time. Nonetheless, he came out to say that there was nothing between them as what he was doing was just for fun.
Ebro has also had feuds with other stars like 50 Cent, who tweeted that OAP now needed security and was banned from New York nightlife. The rapper also added that Ebro will soon be punched in the face. The issue between the two was due to Ebro’s on-air comments of why 50 was banned from Hot 97 over past events. After Tekashi 69 was arrested, Fifty accused the radio DJ of being an informant to New York City police after reading a letter from a law enforcement source. Ebro responded by asking the rapper why everyone around him was having trouble but he doesn’t seem to be.
With all of this, Ebro is known for his strong opinions that he’s not afraid to share, as well as his deep knowledge of the hip-hop world.
Wife, daughter and girlfriend
Darden is reputed to be married to his former girlfriend, Stephanie Marie.
Not much about their relationship or even their marriage is known. We know, however, that his union with his wife was blessed by a daughter, Issa Darden. Issa was delivered in 2014 with the help of radio veteran Host 97 in the bathroom of his home.
Scrolling through his social media account, Eboro barely shares pictures of his wife, but rather that of his daughter which he often shares.
