He was born Joseph Harry Fowler Connick Jr on September 11, 1967, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to his parents; Anita Frances, her mother and Joseph Connick, her father. Harry lost his mother to ovarian cancer in 1981. He is of mixed ethnicity. her father is of English and German ancestry and her mother was Jewish.
Harry began at a very young age of three to exhibit an inclination for music. At this age he was already learning the keyboard and started playing in public at the age of 5. At age 9, he performed with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra and performed at events as well.
