Jax Jones is an English DJ, record producer, singer, songwriter and remixer known for his song. You don’t know me. He came to fame when the song which featured Raye peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart. His career in music was partly born out of his childhood interest in hip-hop, R&B, gospel, traditional African music and influenced by his family.

Born on July 25, 1987, Timucin Lam, the drummer-maker was raised in a multi-ethnic household. His Turkish father gave him the name Timucin and his Chinese mother was also into music. Jones also had a Nigerian stepfather who introduced him to crossing the famous Fela Kuti. He has in the past shared that his parents wanted him to become a doctor, but his love for music comes with good things.

Music career and breakthrough
Jax Jones was juggling between lectures and music in the studio when he enrolled at the University at 18, following the encouragement of his parents. He later started performing at open mic clubs in London and eventually met Ripperman, a grime producer from Mitcham as well as Brixton studio Raw Materials. Jones immersed himself in music full-time after graduation. He rented a studio in Sydenham when he was not allowed to return home, he worked to hone his talent. Which is to say, if anyone knows that nothing good comes easy, Jones knows it.
As fortune will always smile on those who believe in their dreams and work towards them, Jax Jones finally got his break. His newly discovered interest in house music in 2014 brought him closer to Duke Dumont, and together they co-wrote and produced songs like I Brought You Back and Ocean Drive, all of which were successful.
However, it was worth trying your hand at making singles. So he released the single Yeah yeah yeah and Housework in 2015 and 2016 respectively. And then came the single You Don’t Know Me in December 2016, which became his biggest hit so far as the song charted at number three in the UK and top five in several European countries including Germany, Ireland, Belgium and Norway. For Jones, the year 2017 immediately following the song’s release was the “best year” of his life. He took to his Instagram page to express his gratitude to his fans.

As mentioned earlier, Jones’ father is Turkish and he was raised by his Chinese mother and Nigerian stepfather. Neither of his parents’ names have been released and it is unknown if he grew up with a sibling.

Regarding his IG page, at the end of 2018, he expressed his deep gratitude for making it through 2018. Jones also confirmed that his song with Raye and other collaborators sold 7 million singles and 1 billion streams.
