Kaytranada – Biography, Age

The ace DJ and producer was born Louis KevinCélestin on August 25, 1992 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. From his teenage years, Kaytranada was not only inclined to pursue the path of music, but he also became familiar with the concept of music production. He started his career in 2010 under the stage name Kaytradamus and has released a lot of EPs and digital albums while striving for full platform release.

The producer launched two projects at the time and caught the attention of many. In 2012, it changed its name to Kaytranada, which has remained its name to this day. In 2013, the talented producer released the EP Todo. The following year, he made a remix for the song January by the artist Disclosure. He also signed a recording contract with the British label XL Recordings. He made his label debut with a collaboration with Shay Lia titled Leave Me Alone

In 2016, he released his debut album 99.9% and it contained various collaborations with many artists such as GoldLink, Syd Tha Kyd, Vic Mensa and many more. Also that year, Kaytranada won the Polaris Music Prize. 99.9% also won the Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year in 2017.

As he rose to prominence, Kaytranada multiplied collaborations with other artists and, in 2018, the producer returned to the RCA label and released his EP. Nothin Like U/Chances. He then moved to LA’s HW&W label, which had trained artists such as Tek Lun and Gravez.

When Kaytranada was still very young, his family moved from Haiti to Canada. They moved from the country to Montreal, Quebec, Canada and settled. Although their names are not known, his parents were lower class workers and dedicated to giving their children the best education possible. Louis’ father worked as a taxi driver and real estate agent, while his mother worked as a health worker.

The singer had a strict parenting as his parents restricted his movements and relationships with other children. They wanted so badly that their children could receive a proper education and tried hard to keep them in school rather than on the streets. Kaytranada, on the other hand, was not in school, he focused on music and everything associated with it. He was always passionate about music and tended to follow his passion. This passion made him very distracted at school; he would never pay attention and always made up times in class.

When the opportunity called to produce his own beat after being introduced to FL Studio by his brother, he was only too eager to oblige. He was fifteen at the time and quickly became familiar with the principles of music production. However, he did not complete high school; he left to fully concentrate on the music. Louis’ parents divorced when he was 14 years old. Not being raised by both parents gave him all the space he needed to fully pursue his dreams.
