Skinner was born on February 25, 1974 in Graves County, McCracken, Kentucky as Patrick Kevin Skinner. He grew up with three siblings, Jennifer, Rodney and Michael. From childhood, he was always interested in music and singing. He started playing guitar and started writing his own songs when he was 12 years old. It’s no news that he regularly draws inspiration from his surroundings in Kentucky, a popular state for country music.
Her father, Joe Skinner, was also a musician and a huge Hank Williams music lover. This is apparently how Kevin was born out of his love of music. He has a very cordial and happy relationship with his older brother who is also his only known sibling.
Kevin’s love for music led him to participate in the popular American Talent show where he performed Garth Brooks’ song, “If Tomorrow Never Comes” and garnered many fans and audience votes. Building on the massive love he got on the show, he made his way to the finale episode of the talent show. He reportedly said he was sure to win because his dad had been there to support him through it all and it turned out that was exactly what he said.
He received the star prize of $1 million which he demanded be paid to him in 40 years of annuity. This means he will receive $25,000 per year for 40 years.
