Kim Tae-Hyung was born in Daegu, South Korea on December 30, 1995. The South Korean pop star is the eldest of three children (a younger brother and sister) born to her parents, who were farmers. Due to his parents’ extremely busy lives as farmers, Kim Tae-Hyung spent his formative years living with his grandparents.

Since he could imagine a future for himself, Kim had always aspired to become a professional singer. As early as elementary school, he started performing on stage in front of thousands and millions of fans who want to hear him sing. Kim Tae-Hyung began his journey to stardom by taking saxophone lessons. In pursuit of achieving his dream, he attended Korean Arts High School and finally graduated in 2014.

In their first year, the group won several NewPrix for Artist of the Year. They released their debut album in 2013, and their second album, Wings, released in 2016, gave Kim Tae-Hyung and BTS their first appearance on the Billboard 200, ranking at No. 26. Since then, the trend has been upwards for the group.. Several of their songs have been certified gold by the RIAA and won several awards. Their meteoric rise took young Kim from a docile farmer to an international pop star.

Apart from his group responsibilities, V has also had several solo projects. He’s done covers for songs like Someone Like You by Adele and he’s also an actor. He made his debut in the KBS2 historical drama, Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. He composed and sang the film’s soundtrack.

Kim Tae-Hyung’s music style has been described as a super soothing low baritone which is a key part of BTS’ musical identity. Besides being one of the lead singers of the group, the pop star is also a writer and producer of some BTS songs. He enjoys great recognition and fame from the fans due to his role as the lead vocalist and his charming looks. The President of South Korea also awarded him the fifth class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit.
