Laura Marling is a British folk singer and musician who won the 2011 Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist and was also nominated for the 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 editions of the same award.

Laura Marling was born on February 1, 1990 as Laura Beatrice Marling. She is the youngest of three daughters born to a music teacher and her husband, Sir Charles William Somerset Marling.

Marling started making music at an early age. His father, an amateur singer-songwriter, ran a small recording studio, introduced him to folk music, shaped his musical tastes and taught him to play the guitar at from the age of three. It’s an experience she sees as a blessing and a spell as a curse because, according to her, she couldn’t fit into any other genre.
