The rapper rose pretty fast — thanks to songs like Harder Than Hard, Yes Indeed, and Harder Drip. Find the answers to most frequently asked questions about Lil Baby below.
Lil Baby Biography and Real Name
Although Lil Baby is the rapper who came to be known, his real name is Dominique Jones. He was born on December 3, 1994 in the United States, in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was also raised. He was raised alongside his two older siblings when his father abandoned the family, when Dominique was only 2 years old.
Growing up in the infamous South Side of Atlanta, he did well in college, but found it hard to stay out of trouble and so dropped out of high school. At that time, his mother tried to send him to an alternative school, but he felt too old for it, so he turned his back on schooling without looking back.
In 2012 he landed behind bars for burglary after he tried to break into a house with a couple of friends but got caught. For this, he spent 10 days in detention.
From 16 to 17, the baby line with the law kept crossing over for things like drugs and gun possession. In 2012, he was charged with drug possession and intent to sell, which his lawyer then advised him to take for a two-year plea. However, Lil got another lawyer who managed to get a deal to allow him to go on a special program for six months.
After just 20 days on the program, he got into a fight with an older white man over the racist comment. He was then sent back to a real penitentiary to spend the first two years there. In 2013 and 2014, he would again be charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
After spending his time in maximum security, he decided he was going to turn his life around. It was then that he decided to become a rapper. According to Lashawn Jones, they all laughed when his son said that was what he wanted to do. Nonetheless, she encouraged him to do whatever he wanted until he ended up behind bars.
Immediately, Lil Baby started dropping mixtapes. Between April 2017 and November 2018, he released a number of mixtapes, including Perfect Timing, Harder Than Hard, 2 Hard, Too Hard, Hard Drained, and Rue Gossip . Walking all the steps, it quickly became a hit on Soundcloud.
In 2018, he released his debut album, Harder Than Ever, which debuted on the US Billboard 200 chart at number three. The album featured the likes of Drake, Yong Thug, Offset, and Gunna.
In 2019, it was announced that the Atlanta rapper would be joining others, including Lil Yachty, Lil Jon, Migos and Ludacris, for Super Bowl Music Fest 2019.
Mom, girlfriend and son
For the rapper, he had both a father and a mother, the same person – Lashawn Jones, his mother when he was growing up because, as stated, his father had left the family. That said, she struggled to raise him with her two older sisters.
He also had his step-grandfather, someone he loved and who was his mentor.
Lil Baby is in a relationship with Amour Jayda, with whom he started dating since 2016. The two men met through Amour’s sister. At first, the rapper started sending her DMs on Instagram and when she moved to Atlanta, they started the relationship privately before going public.
Although she now devotes herself to selling hair online and hosting shows, Amour Jayda once tried rapping and was even in a girl group, but she decided to quit.
Lil Baby has a son from a previous relationship. In December 2018, Jayda was pregnant with the rapper and the two were already engaged.
From his name, the first thing you might think of is that Lil Baby is a short man. Instead, he got the name because he had always dated older men.
While he may not be the tallest man around, he is a man with an average height of 5ft 8in and a slender build.
