Michael Jackson was one of the most popular artists around the world, he was known as the King of Pop. Prior to his passing, he was a successful musical artist recognized in popular culture for over forty years for his contributions to music, dance and fashion. He also had a highly publicized personal life.
Brief biography
Born on August 29, 1958, Michael Jackson was the eight of ten children born to former American boxer and steelworker Joseph Walter Jackson and his wife Katherine Esther Jackson. Katherine started working part-time at Sears, a department store, to help support the family. She was also passionate about music as he played piano and clarinet and dreamed of becoming a performer herself. Following in his mother’s footsteps, it’s easy to see how Michael became a legend.
Brothers and sisters
Michael Jackson had 8 siblings; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Her brothers are Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy, while her sisters are Rebbie, LA Toya and Janet. They shaped the sound of popular music and became the first soul music family. Eight of the Jackson siblings earned gold records for their exploits. The Jackson 5, consisting of the late Michael and his brothers, has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They all received stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1980, 1984 and 1990.
Michael Jackson’s Wives
Michael Jackson has been married twice. He met Lisa Marie Presley after his father, Elvis Presley, introduced him in 1974. Presley supported him during his first set of child sexual abuse allegations and that Jackson had become addicted to drugs against pain. She convinced him to enter drug rehabilitation. He eventually proposed to her through a phone call and she accepted. They got married on the 26th day of May 1994 in a private ceremony in the Dominican Republic. The couple eventually divorced in August 1996 and remained for four more years. Lisa Presley lives with her family in San Francisco, California.

Debbie Rowe who later had two children for LateMichael became his wife in 1996. She met Michael while working as a nurse with Dr Arnold Klein who treated Michael for vitiligo. Debbie was a lifelong fan of Michael and had a crush on him. After Michael’s divorce from Rowe, Michael worried that he might not be able to have children. Rowe therefore offered to have his children. She finally got pregnant in 1996 and got married to Michael Jackson in Sydney Australia on the 14th of November 1996.
However, on October 8th , 1999, they divorced. Rowe was overwhelmed by the publicity created by Jackson’s marriage as a private person. She ceded custody of the children (Michael Joseph Jackson and Paris Jackson) to Michael. After Michael Jackson’s death, Rowe made a deal with Katherine Jackson, the children’s supervised visitation guardian.
In 2014, she announced she was engaged to MarcSchaffel; the former Neverland Ranch videographer. Mark had helped Rowe with his health issues after the divorce in 1999 and was the only Michael employee allowed to visit him. In 2016, Rowe was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Michael Jackson’s Daughter
Paris Michael Katherine was born to Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe in Beverly Hills, California on the 3rd of April 1998. She was named after the city where she was conceived i.e. Paris. Katherine is the only child of the late Michael. She grew up with her siblings (an older brother and a younger half-brother) at the Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara. His godparents were Elizabeth Taylor and Macaulay Culkin. Michael always asked her and her siblings to wear a mask to hide the face from the public.
Paris moved to Los Angeles in January 2017 at 19. She now lives in a private studio in Jackson’s old compound. Paris is an actress, activist and model. She was lucky enough to make her film debut in 2011, where she signed on to star in the children’s fantasy film, The Lundon Bridge and the Three Keys, which was based on a book written by Dennis Christen. However, the film ended in development hell. Paris then made her guest starring debut on the Fox series, Star. She is currently set to make a feature debut in Gringo
Paris made the popular magazine’s Most Beautiful list in May 2012. In January 2017, she appeared on the cover of Rolling. This must have exposed her beautiful features since in March 2017, she signed a modeling contract with IMG Models.
Paris Michael Katherine – The Activist
As an activist, she speaks out on issues she considers unfair and supports efforts to address these issues. In August 2017, during the MTV VMAS, she went off-script to confront “white supremacist jerks.” She did this to talk about the attacks that took place earlier this month in Charlottesville, Virginia. Paris also raises awareness of Native American concerns and joins forces with activist groups fighting pollution.
She was sexually assaulted at age 14 by an older man she describes as a stranger. This cyber bullying led her to kill herself and attempt suicide three times. She was depressed and had become a drug addict. After her last suicide attempt, she was sent to a therapeutic school in Utah. It was there that she spent her second and third years of high school and overcame depression.
Paris’s relationship with her father
Paris alongside her brother accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Grammy Awards on behalf of their father. She made plans with her siblings and grandmother to make a documentary film Remembering Michael in memory of her late father. But the method with which she planned to generate funds for the project caused an outcry from fans and the media, which eventually shut it down. A preview of the documentary had shown Paris how she never had the opportunity to learn the moonwalk dance that her father had promised to teach her.
Just like her father, she loves music. Paris writes and sings her own songs. She is a body positive role model and has spoken a lot about body image. In 2017, she was seen at the MTV VMAS with an exposed tuft of armpit hair trying to convey a message as a body-positive role model.
Paris prides itself on being spiritual. This is seen with his chakra tattoo. She believes in the healing powers of crystals and gemstones and channels positive energy through reading tarot cards, burning incense and meditating. Paris blames Dr. Conrad Murray for her father’s death because his father became anesthetic.
Michael Jackson The Sons
Michael had two sons; Michael Joseph “Prince” Jackson Jr and Prince Michael “Blanket” Jackson II. Joseph is the first child of the late Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe. He was born on the 13 th day of February 1997 in Los Angeles, California. Joseph was kept out of the spotlight until his father’s death, which caused him to appear publicly only a few times. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from his father, alongside his sister, Paris.
In May 2015, he graduated from Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California. He attends Loyola Marymount College in Los Angeles. In 2013, Joseph had his first media personality experience as a guest correspondent for Entertainment Tonight. He interviewed James Franco, Zach Braff and Oz, the great and powerful director, Sam Raimi. He wants to become a producer, director, screenwriter and actor, as he tells Entertainment Tonight. However, for the time being, he chose the companies.
Prince Michael “Blanket” Jackson II
The cover is the 3rd child of the late Michael Jackson; born by an unknown surrogate mother. He was born on February 21st , 2001 in La Mesa, California. The world got to see Blanket in a weird way for the 1st time after he was born. His late father on November 19th , 2002, carried him to the balcony of their suite at the Adlon Hotel in Berlin and held him over the railing to show fans and photographers, his face covered in a napkin. It led to outrageous headlines and even inspired an episode of the Law and Order TV series.
He was only 7 years old when he lost his father. Blanket managed to stay out of the public eye. He was last seen in the audience accepting his late father’s Lifetime Award with his siblings. He had the hardest time adjusting to his father’s death. He is currently enrolled at a Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, California, Los Angeles.
In 2015, it was reported that he no longer wished to be called Blanket; a name his late father had given that he explained meant something like a blessing. The name earned him bullying, so he decided to call himself Bigi.
Michael Jackson – cause of death
On June 25th , 2009, Michael Jackson was found in his bedroom at his home in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, with no detectable pulse and barely breathing by his personal physician, Conrad Murray. Dr. Conrad administered CPR to Michael for 5-10 minutes, but it had no effect on him. He then asked security services to make a 911 call at 12:21 p.m. local time. Paramedics gave him CPR for 42 minutes, then took him to UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. after an hour of trying to resuscitate him.
Michael died of propofol and benzodiazepine (a very strong anesthetic) overdose that caused cardiac arrest. He had been struggling with painkillers for years. He had also raised concerns for his health a month before his death after several postponements of his high-profile concerts. An autopsy revealed the presence of midazolam, diazepam, lidocaine and ephedrine in his body.
Before his death
The night before his death, Michael had been rehearsing after midnight ahead of a series of comeback gigs at London’s 02 Arena. It was when he didn’t come out of his room the next day that Dr. Conrad came in to find him wayward. Dr Conrad was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter after administering propofol, lorazepam and midazolam shortly before his death. His death was ultimately ruled a homicide on August 28th , 2009 and Dr. Conrad served a two-year prison sentence. Dr. Conrad was also accused of failing to perform a standard CPR technique on Michael.
A few weeks before his death, Michael had sent a series of letters expressing fears that he would be murdered. He sent 13 letters in total in which it was written: “They are trying to assassinate me and my life scares me”. His sister, La Toya and her daughter Paris also suggested that Michael was unlawfully killed. His daughter revealed that her father had hinted at people trying to kill him. This, however, remains to be confirmed.
