Michelle was born on February 15, 1972 in Villingen-Schwenningen in Baden-Württemberg. Her real name is Tanja Gisela Hewer, but she has been appearing under her stage name since the beginning of her career. Like many of her colleagues, Michelle discovered her love of music as a child. So it happened that she sang in a band at the age of 14 and had her first smaller performances. She represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song Wer Liebe lebt (“To Live for Love”), which finished eighth out of 23 nations with 66 points. She has received several prizes since her debut in 1992, including two Echo awards, two Goldene Stimmgabeln, and two Amadeus Austria awards. In Europe, Sehr sold over 5.1 million copies.
