Looking for a singer who spits a lot of Fen words speaking with the media? Then your guy is Noel Gallagher. The former Oasis co-leader and guitarist has led a controversial lifestyle since music made him popular. He harshly criticized many of his fellow musicians from Phill Collins to Jay Z, Blur’s band rival Damon Albarn and of course his own brother Liam Gallegher with whom he made a lot of music with his back while their band was still very solid.
Due to Noel’s sadistic attitude, his musical talent was deemed “overrated”. In 1999, a poll of another guitarist voted him the most overrated guitarist of the last millennium. Notwithstanding, Noel Gallegher seems to have a loyal fan base as he continues to make music with his own rock band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
Biography of Noel Gallagher
Gallagher’s birth name is Noel Thomas David Gallagher. He was born in Longsight, Manchester, England as the second son of Irish Catholic couples Peggy and Thomas Gallagher on May 29, 1967. He has an older brother Paul in addition to Liam who is 5 years younger. The boys were victims of domestic violence at the hands of their alcoholic father Tom. Tom, who was often reclusive, also abused their mother Peggy who, in 1976, had had enough and divorced her. She took control of her sons and started raising them on her own.
Noel Gallegher’s brash attitude can be traced back to his early childhood where he got into trouble most often. A regular student, Noel was part of numerous street gangs and was involved in a few incidents of theft.
Once in his early teens he was misprobated, a time when he would discover music. Growing up he nurtured his musical passion and became part of the English alternative rock band, Inspiral Carpets touring with them for a few years.
Upon returning to the UK in 1991, he discovered that Liam had started his own rock band named The Rain. At Liam’s invitation, Noel became a member of the band and later took creative control of the band renaming it Oasis. With Noel at the helm, Oasis cemented themselves to become one of the hit bands of the 90s. However, their turbulent relationship with Liam culminated in his departure in 2009 one day after they fought backstage a concert at the Rock En Seine festival in Paris.
His net worth
Noel Gallagher’s net worth is estimated to be around £46 million or around $60 million. His wealth is even higher than that of his brother Liam, whose net worth is now estimated at $8 million, up from $50 million at the time. Liam lost much of his fortune to a very expensive divorce and of course his wild party lifestyle.
Much of Noel Gallegher’s wealth comes from sonans with Oasis. Since Noel was the primary songwriter, he was entitled to more of what Oasis was doing. The rock band has sold out and sold over 70 million records worldwide. Plus, Noel continues to shake things up with his own band touring the world. In 2011 it emerged that he had a private art collection worth $800,000. His villa in Ibiza is valued at over $4 million.
Wife and daughter of Noel Gallagher
Unsurprisingly, Noel Gallegher has had a tumultuous relationship with the women he’s been with, but he seems to have ticked the right boxes with Sara MacDonald, a Scottish publicist who he’s been married to since 2011. It was Gallegher’s second marriage then. that he separated from his first wife Meg Mathew on grounds of infidelity. They say he cheated on her with Sara. Noel would later claim that he never cheated and only admitted adultery to expedite his divorce from her.
Noel met Sara in Ibiza in June 2000. His song “Waiting for the Rapture” was about his first meeting with her. With Sara, Noel shares two sons, Donovan and Sonny, who were born on September 22, 2007 and October 1, 2010 respectively. They were married on June 18, 2011. Their wedding took place at the Lime Wood Hotel in the New Forest National Park and his close friend, the famous British singer Russell Brand, was his best man.
Noel met his first wife Meg Mathews in 1994 through his then girlfriend, Swedish MTV presenter and actress Rebecca de Ruvo who was Meg’s roommate. He would later leave Ruvo for Mathews and eventually marry her in June 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada. On January 27, 2000, they welcomed a daughter, Anaïs Gallagher. About a year later, Noel left her for Sara.
Noel’s daughter Anaïs Gallagher has a successful career as an Instagram star/model. Her most notable gig was for fashion retailer Monsoon Accessorize’s STAR collection.
