Ookay – Biography
He is an American national born on November 10, 1992 in Chula Vista, CA, United States. His birth name is Abraham Laguna, but there is no other information about his family background or the identity of his parents and siblings. Reports, however, say that his father has played as a bassist in the past.
He is an alumnus of a community college where he started producing electronic dance tracks in his early twenties. At first he went with the Leisure moniker, Laguna, attracting huge followings for his original and energetic house music. As his career progressed, his musical genre shifted to a more trap-oriented style and he made the decision to adopt the new stage name of Ookay. The popular DJ currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
Family
It would seem that the details of his family’s life and formative years have never been in the spotlight. We only know that he is the son of a bassist who played a bass solo on Ookay’s 2015 Father’s Day at EDC. No siblings or other family members have been released.

He is a Los Angeles-based DJ cum producer who has musical roots as his father makes a living as a bassist. The DJ collaborated with Dipo to remix Tu me faire by Avicii. He worked with Skink Records – Showtek label, to release a single titled Bouncer in collaboration with Showtek on March 10, 2014. A few weeks later, Spinnin’ Records uploaded an official music video to YouTube.
Ookay’s debut EP titled Ghost dropped on November 7, 2014 via Dim MakRecords which is Steve Aoki’s label. According to the famous DJ, the whole point of producing an EP that wasn’t tricky at all was only to push the limits of his skills. In fact, he was trying to convince fans that he wasn’t a one-trick pony who was only proficient at producing traps.
Her March 25, 2016 single simply titled Thief, released on the digital platform; The music video was directed by Rumena Dinevska and produced by Davin Tjen. After five days, the single was uploaded to Ookay’s personal YouTube channel. He had started working on the track the previous year, when he returned from Coachella 2015. Thief was No. 27 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Songs chart for August 19, 2016.
Her next EP titled Cocoon was released on October 7, 2016, consisting of a total of five songs. He took part in an event honoring his late friend, fellow DJ Big Makk, who died untimely following a car accident last August. Ookay performed as a performer at the event and raised a total of $8,000, all of which went to the family of the deceased.
Ookay’s 2017 Valentine’s Day single was titled Staying Forever, he later released the single Chasing Colors in collaboration with Marshmello with Noah Cyrus handling vocals. The same year, precisely on September 1, he went through Monstercat, an independent Canadian label, for the release of the future bass track. Lighthouse was described as “a bit repetitive at times” by EDM Sauce’s Erik. Although the single was really good, Erik’s description denied him the chance to get a higher rating.

Ookay is basically known with the music genre called trap (EDM), in fact, his fans tend to get angry whenever he discovers something that is not related to trap. This informed the content of his second extended piece titled Ghost, which includes several songs that are not a trap. According to Ookay, he wanted everyone to know that he can perform in other genres as well. He also explored Electropop and Future Bass.
