Plot and background details
Outlander is a television series that wonderfully combines the genres of historical fiction, science fiction, drama, romance, fantasy and adventure into one. It is based on the series of books by an American professor and novelist, Diana Gabaldon. The first novel was published in 1991 as C Ross Stitch (in the UK, Australia and New Zealand) but changed to Outlander (in the US). Book two and three, Libellule en Ambre and Voyageur followed in 1992 and 1993 respectively. The ninth installment, Go Tell The Bees I’m Gone is coming.
Claire was a nurse in World War II and wife of Frank Randall until the 18th century and was to marry Jamie Fraser (a Highlander). That’s what happened when she joined the Scottish rebel group fleeing from Frank’s Red Coat ancestor, Captain Jonathan and his band. She quickly falls in love with Fraser but must warn the Scottish Highlander clan of the Jacobite cause which, she already knows, will fail. When Randall finally captures Jamie, Claire rescues him and they sail to Paris. In Paris, Claire becomes pregnant but loses the child. She also ensures Frank’s existence by preventing Jamie from killing Randall until he is married. After a second pregnancy, Claire leaves Jamie for the 20th century after he asks her to. She gives birth to a girl named Brianna,
Jamie kills Randall in the Battle of Cullodent while Frank helps raise his daughter in the future before his own accidental death. By the time Claire returns, Jamie has a son and is married, but it ends. In Season 4, Brianna, Jamie and Claire, Claire’s love child, reject a marriage proposal and travel back in time to save her parents from dying.
The fifth season of this series is based on Diana’s fifth book titled The Burning Cross released on November 6, 2001. If you don’t want to know what to expect in Outlander Season 5, please look away now; otherwise, welcome to the ride.
Cast and Spoilers
With Frank and Randall dead, it’s safe to say we’re done with two, but who knows? Tobias Menzies, who plays both characters, could very well return. However, without a doubt, main characters like Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan are going to have a lot of scenes to portray.
Caitriona Balfe (Claire Fraser)
Caitriona is an Irish actress with a previous modeling career of 10 years. She has worked for brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Dolce & Gabbana, H&M, Oscar de la Renta, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta. When she turned completely to her acting role, she moved from New York to Los Angeles. Some of his works include Now You See Me, The Beauty Within, Money Monster, and Outlanders.
She plays the role of Claire Fraser and has won numerous awards for her outstanding performance among several other nominations.
In Outlander Season 5, Claire will face challenges in her quest to be the best doctor in the 18th century, including trying to produce her own supply of penicillin. This ends up saving Jamie, bitten by a snake, preventing her from being widowed twice.
Sam Roland HeughanJamie Fraser
Sam was born to be Jamie Fraser, he plays lesi though he’s been nominated multiple times for awards such as Critics’ Choice and the Saturn Awards. The actor was born in Scotland. We will see Jamie starring in Outlander Season 5 whiskey most of which will try to save Roger when he is captured. He tries so hard to protect his family and lead a somewhat peaceful life on the crest of the Fraser. However, judging by Diana’s fifth book, the brewing American Revolution will shatter dreams of a peaceful life and expose Jamie and everyone else to more adventures and challenges.
Sophie Skelton (Brianna “Bree” Randall)
Sophie was raised in her birthplace, Woodford, Greater Manchester, England. She started dancing at age 3, then ballet, then musical theater and play. Her first television appearance was DCI Banks (2012) as Becca Smith, a schoolgirl. She also acted on Doctors, So Clumsy, and Victim. Sophie portrays Brianna Randall on the Outlander series and does a good job of it.
After traveling back in time to save her parents when she discovers a document detailing their tragic death, she is raped, becomes pregnant and gives birth to a child. Bree is still an important part of the story, so you can expect more from her in the 5th season.
Richard RankinRoger Wakefield

Her father was a policeman and her mother was involved in the hotel business. He was initially interested in information technology and he was already interested in Glasglow Caledonian University before taking action. It took place when a local filmmaker convinced him he had “the acting look” and announced his move to Langside College with Colin Harris, his brother.
His professional career began in 2006 and has since been a busy one for the dashing actor. Richard is Brianna’s lover, Roger Wakefield in Outlander. In Season 5, he will likely make several appearances. he is expected to be captured by the Mohawks. Governor Tyron will hang him in turn, as his rescue attempt by Claire and Claire will be over an hour late. He may or may not die, we really can’t say.
Other planned Outlander Season 5 casts include Cesar Domboy (as Fergus), John Bell (as Ian Fraser Murray), and Lauren Lyle (as Marsali MacKimmie Fraser). We don’t really know if Ed Speelers, who portrays the infamous Stephen Bonnet, will return.
It is, however, almost certain that several new faces will be added to the show in this season. If the novel is to be taken seriously, there are plenty of spaces to fill. We already know that even though the TV series does not follow the scene of the new series, major events remain in place. It is on this basis that we can make our forecasts.
