The curse of being born by famous parents is that no matter how big you become, you will always end up living in their shadows. It seemed to be Robin Thicke’s curse, until, like so many others, he made his own name and became a man of his own. The Canadian-American singer and songwriter began his musical journey in 1994 and since then has come a long way, both on the personal and musical side of life.
Biography of Robin Thicke
The singer was born Robin Alan Thicke on March 10, 1977, to American actress and singer Gloria Loring to Canadian actor Alan Thicke. He was raised alongside a brother by both parents until 1986 when they divorced.
His career started to take shape since he was just a small child thanks to the support of his parents, especially his father, who helped him work on his early songs. But at the time, he wanted his son to focus on his education before devoting himself to music.
He went to school in Los Angeles and in his early teens he became part of the band, As One. When he wanted to release his first demo, the singer’s father refused to give him the $1,000 he needed for the project because he wanted him to go to school. However, Al Jarreau later provided the money. After the demo was released, Brian McKnight heard it and was impressed enough to teach Thicke some techniques before again helping him secure his first recording contract at age 16 with Interscope Records.
In the years to come, he branched out and began producing and writing songs for others. This continued until 2003, when he released his first album, A Beautiful World. Without much promotion, the album did not achieve as much success as expected by Thicke and Interscope who had signed him for the second time. In 2006 he released his second album, The Evolution of Robin Thicke which was more successful than the first.
2008 saw the release of Autre chose followed by Thérapie Sexuelle: La Session in 2009. In 2011 Love After War came and then he released Blurred Lines in 2013 which had his most successful song, Blurred Lines. In 2014 he released Paula which is an album about his ex-wife Paula Patton and how he felt about her. Throughout his career, which can be described as a success, Thicke has received numerous nominations, including 5 Grammy Awards and he has won many other awards, including 4 Billboard.
Net value
There is no denying the fact that Thicke has been very successful as a musician and music producer who aside from stardom also has the chance to show for it all. He has an estimated net worth of $15 million.
In November 2018, he lost his home in Malibu due to the tragic Woolsey fire.
Son, wife or girlfriend and relationships
When it comes to relationships, Robin Thicke isn’t necessarily one who’s been everywhere. When he was only 14, he met Paula Patton, actress. The young singer asked her to dance, and two years later, in 1993, they started dating.
The two continued dating until 2005 when they tied the knot and became husband and wife. The union produced a son, Julian Fuego Thicke, who was born in 2010. Having been together until the age of 21, the bet would be that Robin Thick and Paula Patton would be together forever. Unfortunately, the separated after 9 years of marriage in 2014 and in 2015 they divorced. During the custody battle over their son, Robin was accused of child abuse, claiming he spanked and hit Julian. Paula was also accused of physically abusing her during their marriage.
Although he was greatly affected by the divorce to the point of releasing an album about her, he would bounce back and find love again in April Love Geary. He started dating the model in 2014 and by 2018 they had their first child together, Mia Love Thicke. Just six months later, Geary announced on Instagram that they were expecting a second child, due on March 10, 2019, Robin’s birthday.
The announcement drew a lot of reactions from followers on Instagram who said she must have taken time to heal from her first birth, when she was just 23 years old.
