Biography of Sian Gibson

Sian Gibson was born Sian Foulkes in the town of Moule, Clwyd, England to parents whose names are unknown. Her father was a builder and her mother was a housewife and she attended a local youth theatre, Theater Clwyd before proceeding to the University of Salford. The course she studied in college is also unknown, however, she attended the same college with co-actors, comedians, and media personalities like Peter Kay and Steve Edge.

She is one of the few women to practice standup comedy in the American comedy space. Sian Gibson has revealed her comedic influences come from Rik Mayall, Cannon and Ball etc. She is also a writer and impressionist as well as an actress. Between 1997 and 2002, Sian appeared on her early television shows, including Comedy Lab and Phoenix Nights. In Phoenix Night, she appeared in the episode Silent Night where she played the daughter of one of the main characters. She also appeared in the Maximum Practice series in 1997 as Sandra and The Big as Florence.

From 1998 to 2000, she starred in the series Hollyoaks where she played the role of Tessie Thompson in four episodes. In 1998, she was also seen in the series production This is Peter Kay Thing as Yvonne, however, in only one scene.

Gibson didn’t land any major TV series roles until 2015, when she was cast as the title character in Peter Kay’s Car Share. Before that, she played minor roles in various TV series like The League of Gentlemen and Emmerdale

In 2005, she landed another minor role in the TV movie Marian, again as Fiona. Her big break came when she co-wrote and starred in Peter Kay’s Share the Care series . Prior to being part of this production, Sian was working in a call center in Chester and had not auditioned for any acting role in over a year. His college buddy, Peter Kay received a script for the series from Paul Coleman and Tim Red for his opinion. Peter loved the script and asked Sian Gibson if she wanted to work with him. She consented and the two ended up writing the script to suit them and the series became a huge hit.

The series became the highest rated new sitcom premiering on any channel since 2011. Its opening episode was watched by 6.85 million people while another 25 million saw it on the BBC player. The TV sitcom opened doors of acting roles for the Welsh actress. In 2017, she was on UKTV’s original drama single Gold Murder on the Blackpool Express which became the highest rated show ever on the channel and was returned to service for a second series.

The sitcom actress was also a later guest star in BBC2’s Inside No.9 and appeared again in The League of Gentlemen (2017), Hospital People (2017) and Death in Heaven (2018). The most recent of her projects is Murder on the Tyne as Gemma in 2018.
