When the name of superorganism is mentioned, one may think it is some kind of animal; however, it’s the name of an English indie band that came together in 2017. It didn’t take long for the group of eight talented youngsters to establish themselves as one of the UK’s most compelling pop bands. United.

The London-based Byte Band is a multi-faceted group with members drawn from different parts of the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. Their debut studio album, The Superorganism, was released in March 2018, seeking their first nomination at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

It is quite surprising to see such a young group as the superorganism has gained such popularity, just two years after its creation. This was made possible by the band combining their multicultural backgrounds with the production of original internet-inspired indie pop music. Following their rise on the international music scene, they were chosen as performers at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, USA.

Superorganism – Biography & Pop Band Profile

The indie pop group was founded by eight friends in 2017. It is imperative to note that the members went through challenges before coming together as a group. Prior to their formation, they met through mutual friends, as well as online music platforms. Their origin could be traced to the New Zealand pop band group called The Eversons.

Prior to their formation, four band members including Timothy Shann, Mark Turner, Blair Everson and Christopher Young were members of The Eversons. The group’s singer, Orono Noguchi, a student in Maine, met these four during their tour of Japan in 2015. Orono, who is a big fan of the group, attended their show and was able to connect with The Eversons .

After discovering that Orono could sing and posting song covers on his SoundCloud page, the band messaged him, asking him to help add lyrics to the demo of their song, Something for Your MIND. The song was later featured on the FIFA 2018 soundtrack.

After graduating from John Bapst Memorial High School in June 2017, Orono moved to London to join the rest of the band. Two other band members, Ruby and B, background vocalists and instrumentalists, also joined the band. The latest member of the group Earl Ho, a South Korean singer, also joined the following ranks. Earl is the only band member who resides in Sydney, Australia.

After reuniting in 2017, Superorganism was born. They live in a studio, a terraced house in the East End of London. After their formation, the band embarked on their first project, their debut single titled Something for Your MIND. in 2017. Later that same year, they followed with two more singles, including It’s Perfect and Everybody Doesn’t Care.

2018 turned out to be an incredibly successful year for Superorganism as the band released their debut studio album titled. The album was released in March 2018 via Domino Recording Company and topped the music charts in the UK and Ireland. Due to their shrewd performances, their debut album earned them their first MTV Award nomination later that year. In October 2018, Superorganism also went on a musical tour of Ireland and the UK, alongside Japanese band CHAI.

The independent group also did some collaborative work. They covered Utada Hikaru’s song Phatkchi no Uta for the promotion of his album Hat Sukoi in June 2018. They also contributed the song titled Hello Me and You to the soundtrack of The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.. It was released in February 2019.

Additionally, Superorganism has also released seven music videos for their hit songs from their debut album. They grabbed worldwide attention at the beginning of 2019 by ranking among the performers at the Coachella Music and Arts festival held in California, USA.

As mentioned earlier, the indie band was formed by eight young people who share the same passion for music. They include Orono Noguchi aka OJ (vocals, songwriting and painting), Mark David Turner aka Emily (writing, production and synths), Christopher Young (writing, production and guitar) and Blair Everson aka Robert Strange (visual arts and direction) . Others are Timothy Shann and Tucan (writing, producing, mixing and drums), Earl Ho and Soul (vocals and dancer), Ruby (dancer and musician) and B (vocals and dancer).

Judging by Superorganism’s current pace, there’s no doubt that this band would soon make a name for itself in the world of indie pop music.
