It’s been one year since the death of rap icon DMX, according to news12 On Saturday, fans gathered to pay their respects and to honor his life and music. Many people gathered outside Ruff Ryders’ studios to tell stories and discuss the the legendary musician.

“He meant everything to Yonkers because he was someone who started from nothing, grew into everything, and always gave back to the community,” said Jetta Bee, DMX’s friend.
The Ruff Ryders have announced that a celebration will be held in his honor in downtown Yonkers.

How did DMX Die ?

After being brought to the hospital for a heart attack, DMX died a week later. The death of DMX, whose true name was Earl Simmons, caused global shockwaves.

A drug overdose was suspected as a possible cause of the heart attack, according to sources. His lawyer indicated that he had no idea what caused DMX’s cardiac condition, but that he was already on life support and would remain on it until further notice.

It was announced on Friday, April 9 that DMX had died.

In a statement, his family said, “Today, we are devastated to report that our beloved one, DMX, name Earl Simmons, died at the age of 50 at White Plains after being placed on life-sustaining medical for the past few days.”
