Biography & Age
Tinashe Jorgensen Kachingwe was born on the 6th day of February 1993, in Lexington, Kentucky. She is the eldest of three children, born to two college professors, Michael and Aimie Kachingwe. Her name Tinashe means “We are with God” in the Shona language, the language of the Shona people of Zimbabwe.
Tinashe and her family moved to Los Angeles when she was eight and the young singer attended Crescenta Vally High School for a year before graduating early to pursue her dream of a full-time music career.
Career
In 2012, Tinashe released her first solo mixtape, In Case We Die, which was recorded at her home studio. The mixtape was positively received by music blogs and critics. On July 13, 2012, Tinashe was signed to RCA Records. After signing, she released her second mixtape, Rêverie on September 6, 2012. It was also well received.
Her Billboard debut was a single from her debut album, Aquarius. The song , 2 on, featured American rapper Schoolboy Q and debuted at number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100. It peaked at number 24.
Her first solo album, Aquarius was released on October 7, 2014 to critical acclaim. The album debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200 and was voted third in the top 10 R&B Albums of 2014.
Tinashe’s career continues to grow as she has had to work with various established artists like Chris Brown, Katy Perry, Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj.

3. She started acting when she was four years old.
Tinashe began studying ballet, tap and jazz at the age of 4 and for the next 14 years of her life participated in various dance styles as a crew member in a dance company until the age of 18. It’s a skill that’s evident in his music videos and shows.
4. She was part of a girl group
In 2007 Tinashe joined girl group The Stunners which included Marisol Esparza, Allie Gonino, Hayley Kiyoko and Kelsey Sanders. The Stunners signed to Columbia Records after six months of training and signed a production deal with Lionsgate Entertainment for a scripted show for MTV. Unfortunately, the group disbanded in 2011, leaving Tinashe to pursue a solo career. His first solo TV performance was at a Dodgers-Cubs game, singing God Bless America.
