After graduating from high school, Chinchar enrolled at Ohio State University in 2003. Five years later, in 2008, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science and Meteorology. But Chinchar was not only academic, she was a member of the Delta Delta Sorority and of course was part of the school weather club.

Right after graduating from Ohio State University, Chinchar started his career. His first professional job was as a weekend weather forecaster for ABC affiliate WTC-TV, also known as the News Channel, licensed to Chattanooga, Tennessee. She held this position for exactly two years and eleven months and left her position in January 2011.
Up Next, Chinchar joined another ABCWKRN affiliate licensed in Nashville, Tennessee, as an evening weather forecaster. She worked for the station for a year and six months before moving to Atlanta, Georgia to work for WXIA-TV as a weekend weatherman. She assumed her position at WXIA in June 2012 and remained there until January 2015. Five months later, CNN came knocking on her door, which Chinchar gladly opened. She is a meteorologist for HLN Weekend Express, CNN International and CNN.
In addition to his thriving career, Chinchar is actively involved in numerous weather-focused campaigns and organizations including; ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), AMS (American Meteorological Society) and NWS (National Weather Services).

Besides being a meteorologist, Allison’s husband, Mike Bettes, is also a storm chaser. He was born on January 9, 1972 and is 12 years older than Chinchar. Having started his career in 1988, he has a wealth of experience that gives courage to his wife. He is best known for his work with The Weather Channel and NBC News.

4. She is the second wife of Mike Bettes
Not to spoil the fact that they’re a perfect match, but Allison Chinchar isn’t her husband’s first love. Mike Bettes was previously married to another meteorologist, Stephanie Abrams. Mike and Stephanie worked together as co-hosts of The Weather Channel’s Abrams & Bettes program Beyond Forecast, which ran from September 2006 to February 2009.
Their on-set chemistry was in plain sight and it wasn’t long before they got engaged and later married. However, their union was only short-lived and produced no children. While Mike loved Allison Chinchar, Stephanie got engaged to a mystery man in February 2017.
5. Chinchar is a mother
About three years after tying the knot with Mike, Chinchar welcomed her first baby, a son named Landen Benjamin Bettes, on January 31, 2015. Her pregnancy was first announced by 11 Alive News in July 2014. The birth of the baby was announced by Bettes via his Twitter account, where he also announced that the baby weighed 8lbs 3oz.
