When he was little, Joel Pimentel would sit with his grandfather who was a musician and the two would sing. The old man encouraged his grandson to pursue his dreams of becoming a musician, which the latter had at heart. At the age of 16, Joel not only followed his dream, but became a member of a group of musicians, CNCO, with which he rose to fame and was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards.

Bio and Age – Who is Joël Pimentel?

Joel Pimentel is a singer and member of the American group CNCO. He was born on February 28, 1999 to a Mexican family in California, United States.

Even if we know little about his father, we know that he is very close to his mother, Patricia Pimentel. The singer was raised alongside his three siblings – Emanuel, Israel and Gabriel in California.

Growing up, Joel wasn’t the best at Spanish but he started learning to speak and write in the language when he was 8 years old. This would become very important to him as he attempted to travel to La Banda where he was required to be fluent in that language, community he, like others in the competition, had to represent.

Pimental attended Oak Hills High School from where he graduated in 2017. He was popular there as a mystery student.

Since he was a child, Joel had always loved music and was encouraged by his grandfather who was also a musician to pursue this dream. The two even played together. When the auditions for La Banda started, his mother heard it on the radio and told him, and then he decided to give it a shot.

At the end of the first season of the competition, seeking to attract talented teenagers and make them music stars, he emerged alongside Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Zabdiel de Jesús and Christopher Vélez, winners and part of the CNCO group in 2015.

The group was offered a five-year contract with Sony Music Latin, in view of the release of their debut album. Primera Cita in 2016 followed by CNCO in 2018. Both albums topped the US Latin Album Billboard and the Argentine Billboard.

The successes of the albums saw Joel and the band winning several awards such as multiple Premios Juventud and Latin American Music Awards in 2016, Billboard Latin Music Awards and iHeartRadio Music Awards in 2017; they received various nominations, including for the Billboard Latin Music Awards and the Latin Grammy Awards.

His family

For Pimentel, the only thing above music is family. He was raised in a close-knit family with both his parents, as well as his grandfather, who was not only instrumental in his learning Spanish, but also in his musical journey.

The singer has an older brother, Emanuel who was born in 1997 and two younger ones – Israel, born in 2001, and Gabriel, born in 2003. He still shares photos of his family members on social media.

Despite her great involvement in social media, Pimentel has always managed to keep an important part of her life, such as her relationship status, away from the prying eyes of the public. Therefore, it is unknown who he is dating.
