The band went on hiatus in 2014 and a year later Mollie King signed as a solo artist for Island Records. Beyond her illustrious music career, the multi-talented star has also explored other aspects of showbiz after holding a number of gigs on radio and television.

Who is Mollie King of Saturdays?

In 2004 and 2005, Mollie King auditioned for The X Factor as a solo artist and as a member of the all-female group ‘Fallen Angelz’. In 2007, she formed another girl group, The Saturdays, alongside Frankie Bridge, Una Healy, Rochelle Humes and Vanessa White. The group achieved 4 top 10 albums including 13 hits from 2008 to 2014.

The band’s second album Wordshaker (2009) also peaked at No. 9 in the UK and also contained a few top ten hits. Their next albums Titles! (2010), On Your Radar (2011) and Live for the Weekend (2013) were also fairly successful. The group also hosted several tours in the UK and the US. They temporarily moved to the United States at the end of 2012 in a bid to break into the American music scene.

Their trip to the United States eventually resulted in the band’s first international single, “What About Us”, a collaboration with Sean Paul, in December 2012. Their three-month stay in the country was chronicled in a season-long reality series, Chasing Saturdays, which premiered on the E! network in January 2013. Despite these laudable successes on the international stage, the band went on hiatus in 2014.

Mollie King soon began working on her solo career after signing a recording contract with Island Records in October 2015.
