Zain Asher Biography
On August 27, 1983, Zain Ejiofor Asher was born to a Nigerian doctor living in England, named Arinze, and his wife, Obiajulu, who worked as a pharmacist in Forest Gate, London, England. She is the younger sister of actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.
On a family trip to Nigeria in 1988, when Asher was 5 years old, his brother and father were traveling to Lagos when they had an accident which resulted in the death of his father, while his brother was left with injuries on the forehead still visible today.
Despite the tragic incident, Asher was still able to move on with his life receiving the best education available. She attended Keble College, University of Oxford, where she earned a degree in Spanish and French, before moving to New York to enroll at Columbia University, where she studied journalism.
Prior to joining CNN, Zain Asher worked with Forbes.com, covering business trends and consumer stories. After that, she spent a few years at News 12 where she covered the local economy, as well as political and cultural issues in Connecticut, Brooklyn and the Bronx. In addition to that, she worked as a reporter for The Guadalajara Reporter when she was based in Mexico. There, she also worked as a freelance associate producer for a local radio station, Universidad de Guadalajara.
After working with numerous other outlets, including Money, for which she has written articles on personal finance, Asher joined CNN in 2013 and has become a regular face on currency and economics issues. In 2017, Zain Asher got married to her husband, Steve Peoples in New York. While it’s unclear how long they knew and dated before getting married, it is known that they got engaged sometime in April 2016.
Just like Asher, Peoples is also a media personality who works with AP as a political reporter. Not much more is known about the American of white ethnicity other than the fact that he has a twin sister who was born 5 minutes before him.

As stated earlier, Zain Ejiofor Asher is the younger sister of actor Chiwetel Ejiofor who was born 6 years before her on July 10, 1977 in Forest Gate, London. Ejiofor is an acclaimed stage, film and television actor who has won numerous awards including the British Academy Film Awards for his role in 12 Years A Slave which also earned him an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination.
